Performer and Director

Bella Issa

I am 22, and I recently graduated from Baldwin Wallace University with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre (Acting & Directing) and a minor in music. I was born and raised in the Cleveland area. I plan to remain local for the year after graduation then move to New York City to pursue my career.

Performing is what brings me the most joy, and I believe I can use it to make a difference. With everything I do, my goal is to make others understand and feel understood. Story is our most powerful tool, and I seek out ones that feel raw and empathetic, no matter their style or medium.

As a Muslim and Arab-American woman, I am always looking to represent and uplift my community within theatre. I see a large gap of perspectives like mine in our industry, and I hope my voice can help narrow it. For that reason, my senior thesis focused on using Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed to create a performance uplifting Palestine with members of BW's Arab community.

Outside of theatre, I love songwriting and reading. I was co-founder and vice president of my college's book club, Book Jackets. The best place I've ever been to is Edinburgh, Scotland. Some of my other favorite interests are ancient history, archaeology, playing with my dog, talking to my friends, and bothering my three older brothers.
